This may have been posted elsewhere.  I'm here in the Fl. panhandle.  Local and Regional talk radio are saying that Rocker is a STRONG possibility for the Saban staff?  Any word on the Hill about this?

Very good chance, Further consider Tracy Rocker is the lowest paid asst coach on Arkansas staff at around 90k per yr.  He would get a good bit more at bama

He should use this to get a good salary increase, but stay here.  Saban has a bad reputation as a boss, and Tracy hates Bama due to his Auburn roots.  No need to trade the security of Fayettenam for the uncertainty of a Saban storm.

we can not lose the Rock.  He is the only one I know on that staff that has recruited D lineman.  This would be a HUGE loss.  Pony up the cash FB.  Use Nutless's increase and give it to Coach Rocker.

Does Rocker have family in Alabama? I know he played @ Auburn, but where did he go to HS.

Family could make the difference...

What would he be?  This article states they have their DC and DB coach...
http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/sports/1168511058109400.xml&coll=2

The school has officially announced only three assistants: Kevin Steele, Kirby Smart, and Lance Thompson. None of their positions was identified, but Steele is believed to be the defensive coordinator, Smart will coach defensive backs, and Thompson's position was unclear.

Lance Thompson is likely to be LB coach as that was his position responsibility with UCF.
That leaves the Dl open for Rocker.

Why is it a couple of years ago most folks were calling for his head.  Don't get me wrong I want him to stay.  He and Reggie make a great team.  I don't understand some posters I guess it's what have you done for me lately mentality.

Rocker better find some highschool recruits so he can get more money/solidify his spot ala Malzhan-style.

Rocker has been a pleasant surprise as a position coach and recruiter. He has profitted from Herring as much as some of the players. I don't want to lose him.

losing rocker would be brutal but we would still have herring who i believe is the best there is. im one of the few on this site who have full confidence in the coaching staff other than the special teams. our special teams have been weak for past 5 years or so. other than Skinner we havent had a very consistant kicker or punter and he really didnt come on strong until this year. our returns are ok with Jones and Mcfadden but they should be great with those two back there.  a blocked kick or punt seems to be almost unheard of.

I've had heard Saban was after Rocker back before he took the Bama job.  Not surprised.  The d line played great this year.  He'll get some looks.

Thompson coached the DLine at UCF.  He coached TEs when under Saban at LSU, so he could coach another position and allow Rocker to hired for the DLine.  However, Thompson coached exclusively the Dline at UCF, as well as at all his other stops prior to LSU

Again Rocker is paid well. One of the only few coaches who is not on the FUND base payroll. As he is listed as a State employee and other compensation is handled by the Fund.. I expect Rocker as well as others to Stay on the HILL for many years to come..

Rocker 5th Down..   Peep the link.

I don't believe he would go to Alabama for a lateral move... especially under Saban.
I thought he might for a promotion (DC), but not lateral.  Just my opinion...

Sorry you are correct about his past.  He is reported by Rolltidebama.com as being the ILB position coach.  He has worked at Bama before and for Saban at LSU.  This dude has creds.

That's pretty interesting, and definitely not good news for us.  I've been banking my hope on keeping Rocker based on thinking Thompson would be coaching the DL.

I would think Steele would coach all LBs.....he's supposed to be one of the top LB coaches in the country.

Regardless of Bama........we need to open the checkbook and do whatever it takes to keep Rocker.

I think Rocker stays unless Nutt trys to "recruit" him to stay. In that case he's out of here.
